Call for Awards Issued

The American Council on Consumer Interests’ Board of Directors is soliciting nominees to be honored through its Awards Program. Below you will find a description of each award. Please complete the attached form and send it via email to Awards Chairperson Margaret Fitzgerald. Nominations are due November 15, 2010.

Mid-Career Award

The Mid-Career Award winner has demonstrated excellence in the field either in research, education and/or policy combined with service defined as contributions that further consumer interests including service to ACCI as a professional organization, forging collaborations with other consumer interest organizations and groups, and supporting policymaking. The Mid-Career Award winner will have 15 years or less of full time professional employment in a field related to consumer interest.

Robert O. Hermmann Ph.D. Dissertation Award

The Robert O. Herrmann Ph.D. Dissertation Award was established to identify and recognize outstanding graduate student research which addresses issues relevant to the well-being of consumers and meets the research guidelines of The Journal of Consumer Affairs. The research may focus on consumer policy, consumer economics, consumer behavior and/or consumer education, may be theoretical, empirical, philosophical and/or historical in perspective, and must have clear implications for government, households and/or business. The research must clearly focus on consumer well-being.

Honor a Mentor

The American Council on Consumer Interests honors members and other professionals who provide leadership to others by positively influencing their professional or personal life or facilitating the achievement of career or educational goals. In many cases, a group of students (or former students) will join together to honor a respected and beloved professor.
