ACCI Membership Offers Value
The American Council on Consumer Interests is a membership organization focusing its effort on disseminating research on all topics related to consumers. In its 1975 Articles of Incorporation, the Council listed among its purposes, "To promote betfer consumer education; to contribute to a better understanding of the role of the consumers, producers and governments in the American economy; to identify and clarify the consumer interests with respect to issues, policies and developments in the marketplace, and in legislative and regulatory matters; to stimulate research and fact finding on consumer issues, and consumer related public policies and consumer education; to disseminate research findings and other information on consumer problems, consumer education, consumer economics and the economics of consumption." These purposes are needed now more than ever as the number and complexity of products and services available to consumers grows. ACCI members are passionate about addressing these needs through the dissemination of the highest quality research and education.
Benefits of membership are outlined below. Won't you join today?
Journal of Consumer Affairs
The highly ranked Journal of Consumer Affairs is published three times each year. The journal offers reports of cutting edge research focused on consumer issues in food, health, finance, housing, aging, communications, energy, and related topics.
Annual Conference
Each year the Council hosts a conference of over 150 participants. Current hot topics are discussed by a variety of invited experts. Members present their most current research work. Networking abounds. Members save $100 on the conference price -- almost enough to cover the annual dues!
Experts Listing
The ACCI Web site hosts not only a list of its member experts, but also their recent abridged Curriculum Vitae. Members are often contacted by policymakers and others who need their expertise.
Preconferences
In most years, a preconference of special focus is offered. Pre-conferences are held the day before the annual conference begins. In 2011, several organizations have invited ACCI conference participants to visit with them -- on their "home" turf -- in Washington, DC.
