If you are presenting a Concurrent Oral Session:

  • These are the traditional oral sessions as in past ACCI conferences. There are multiple presentations during each 90-minute period.
  • There are three rooms with presentations taking place concurrently.
  • A moderator who will keep you on time.
  • About ten (10) minutes is reserved at the end of each 90 minutes for discussion across all presentations. Please don't ask for questions at the end of your time, as it may decrease the presentation time for subsequent presenters. The moderator will manage the discussion.
    • If there are three presentations during the 90 minutes (minus 5 minutes for the moderator to welcome and introduce and minus another 10 minutes for discussion at the very end of all oral presentations) that allows 75 minutes, about 25 minutes for each of the three presentations.
    • If there are two presentations during the 90 minutes this allows about 35 minutes for each of the two presentations.
    • If there are four presentations during the 90 minutes this allows approximately 18 minutes for each of the four presentations.
  • Internet will be available in the meeting rooms, but the quality of the connectivity is not guaranteed. We encourage you to let the office know if you intend on using streaming so that we can be prepared and find work-arounds if needed.
  • Please let us know if you intend to use video or sound from the computer as part of your presentation as we must plan for additional equipment.
  • What AV will be in the room? There will be a laptop, screen, projector, cart, and connectors.
    • Please bring your presentation on a thumb drive for loading on the computer as soon as you arrive in the presentation room.
    • Breakout rooms will not have microphones.

If you are presenting a Featured Research Poster Session:

  • Previews! You will have one minute (60-seconds) to give a brief description of your poster at a general session. Please prepare this short introduction ahead of time and practice it so that you can actually do this in 60-seconds. Start with I am (your name) and I am from (organization/institution). Do NOT list all authors at this time. State your poster title. Describe what it is about. We will time you! You will line up in number order. Look for the time you will present your 60-second overview in the agenda app:
  • What size is the poster board? The Boards are 4 ft x 8 ft and this year you may use the whole space. There is a photo of what the boards look like, below.
  • Where do I find my poster number?
    • Look in the App for your poster number. Poster Boards will have numbers on them, in sequential order, so that other attendees can find your poster easily. Only put your poster up on the board that has your assigned number!
  • There are two Featured Research Sessions.
    • FRS 1 (poster numbers 100's): Present your one minute at the Opening General Session on Tuesday, May 21. That session is from 1:45-3:15 pm and poster previews are scheduled for about 2:40 pm. Please sit up front. You will present your one-minute in poster number order. Poster Boards will be set up by the hotel staff early Wednesday morning. Pin up your poster on that morning from 7:00-8:00 am. Your session is from 8:00-8:50 am and you are expected to stand by your poster during that time and discuss it with other attendees. Breakfast is served at the same time in the same area. Take down your poster at the end of the session or no later than the 12 noon this same day.
    • FRS 2 (poster numbers 200's): Present your one minute at the second General Session on Wednesday which takes place from 9:00-10:30 am. Poster previews are scheduled about 9:35 am. Please sit up front. You will present your one-minute in poster number order. Pin up your poster on Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm, but no later than 5:00 pm. Your poster session, Conversation and Libation, is from 5:15-6:15 pm and you are expected to stand by your poster during that time and discuss it with other attendees. Take down your poster immediately at the end of the session. Food, beer, and wine are featured during this special poster session.
  • The poster may be a maximum 4 feet high (1.22 m) by 8 feet wide (2.44 m) as this is the dimension of the board on which you will pin your poster.
  • One idea for poster printing on cloth can be found at this website.
  • We will provide pins to pin up your poster.
  • As there will not be electricity or a table space, please do not bring a computer. Tablets are okay, but the focus and main points should be on your poster. If you want to provide a URL to your webpage or research, print it on a business card that you can hand out. We will have holders for these business cards upon request at our registration table.
  • It is a very good idea to bring your business cards with you and to have them easy to reach and share.
  • It is requested that you use ACCI Logo near the your university or organization logo on your poster. They should be the same size. Download a high resolution logo image here or simply download our Poster Template here that already contains the right sized logo.
  • It is suggested that you hand-carry your poster with you to the conference.
  • This is what the poster board will look like:
